Under the Amma Two-Wheeler initiative, women aged 18 to 45 were eligible for a government subsidy of 50%, capped at Rs. 25,000, toward the purchase of scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles. Previously, participants could download offline application forms in PDF format and verify their status through the official website of the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women.
Overview of the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme 2026
The Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme was a state-sponsored initiative designed to foster economic independence and self-reliance among women. Specifically targeting women's empowerment in Tamil Nadu, the program provided a subsidy of up to 50% or Rs. 25,000 for purchasing two-wheelers to women with an annual income below Rs. 2.50 lakhs. Beneficiaries were responsible for covering the remaining costs, often through bank financing.
The scheme allowed for one female participant per household and was originally introduced on February 24, 2018. Below, you will find information regarding the legacy application and subsidy claim procedures.
