The Jagananna Chedodu initiative is designed to elevate the socio-economic status of barbers, tailors, and dhobis. These three groups represent approximately 16% of the Andhra Pradesh population. On October 19, 2023, the Chief Minister allocated Rs. 325 crore to benefit over 3.25 lakh Rajakas, Nayee Brahmins, and tailors, with each receiving Rs. 10,000. Funds are transferred directly via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to their registered bank accounts.

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched this support to provide financial empowerment to Backward Class communities. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the state has provided Rs. 10,000 to low-income tailors, barbers, and washermen, benefiting 3.25 lakh workers this cycle.

Over the past four years, the government has invested Rs. 1252.52 crore, providing a cumulative total of Rs. 40,000 to each of the 12.52 lakh eligible beneficiaries across these three trades, as stated by the Chief Minister.
