The Andhra Pradesh administration, under the leadership of CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is actively executing the AP YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme 2026 to support the fishing community. Initially launched by the state government on November 21, 2019, the program has now entered its 5th phase, with the state distributing Rs. 10,000 to each eligible fisherman. This initiative provides essential monetary aid to those engaged in operating mechanised, motorised, and non-motorised fishing vessels.

Overview of Installment Transfers

This initiative provides financial aid to fishing families during the seasonal ban on fishing activities. Keeping election promises, the state government has successfully raised the support amount from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 10,000.

Details of the 5th Installment

On May 16, 2023, the Andhra Pradesh government transferred Rs. 124 crore to the bank accounts of 1.2 lakh fishing families. This assistance is intended to support households during the breeding season (April 15 to June 14), when fishing activities are restricted.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, speaking at a gathering in the Bapatla district, highlighted the government's commitment to easing the burden on fishermen who cannot earn an income during this restricted window. He emphasized that the scheme is designed to provide security to families who depend entirely on the sea for their livelihood.

In addition to the standard Rs. 10,000 payout, the CM also released Rs. 108 crore to over 23,000 fishermen in the Konaseema district whose income was disrupted by ONGC pipeline projects. Over the past five years, the state has distributed a cumulative total of Rs. 538 crore under this welfare program.
