Uttarakhand government welcomes applications for the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana. Launched by Prime Minister Modi on September 23, 2018, the Ayushman Bharat - PM Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) provides free medical care coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh for approximately 5 lakh low-income families in the state. Building on this, the state administration introduced the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana (AAUY), with registration forms now available on their official portal.
The AAUY initiative extends coverage to an additional 18 lakh families under the PM-JAY framework. This brings the total number of Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries in Uttarakhand to 23 lakh households, all of whom are eligible for complimentary treatment at designated public and private hospitals. The state provides an annual health insurance benefit of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family for secondary and tertiary medical services. There are no criteria regarding age, gender, or family size, and the hospitalization process is designed to be entirely cashless and digital.
Latest Update - The procedure for online registration and the issuance of Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana Golden Cards has been revised. The enrollment process is now conducted offline, with full instructions provided on the official website. The Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana covers all pre-existing health conditions. Currently, more than 171 medical facilities (101 public and 74 private) are empanelled under the AAUY program.
AAUY in the Uttarakhand Budget 2023-24
The state Finance Minister unveiled the Uttarakhand Budget 2023-24 on March 15, 2023. During the presentation, it was highlighted that Uttarakhand remains the first state to provide comprehensive cashless health benefits to all its families. The government has allocated Rs. 400 crore to ensure the continued success of the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana, which provides up to Rs. 5 lakh in annual medical coverage for every family.
