Overview of WB Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana (BM-SSY) 2026
To consolidate multiple social security initiatives and provide equitable support to workers in the unorganized sector, the Samajik Suraksha Yojana (SSY)- 2017 was introduced as a pioneering national initiative. This program encompasses eligible workers across 46 notified unorganized industries and 15 self-employed categories as defined by the West Bengal Labour Department, alongside construction and transport workers.
To further support participants, the state government eliminated the monthly Rs. 25 contribution toward provident funds starting from April 1, 2020. Under the rebranded Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana (BM-SSY), all enrolled beneficiaries receive full coverage at no personal cost.
