The central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, introduced the e-Gopala Mobile App in Bihar on September 10, 2020. This application serves as an all-encompassing marketplace for breed improvement and a resource hub designed for the direct benefit of farmers. Android users can now acquire the e-Gopala Mobile App through the Google Play Store. Alongside this launch, the Prime Minister also introduced the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), aimed at modernizing the fisheries industry as a key component of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
The e-GOPALA platform assists farmers across the nation with livestock management. It facilitates the trade of disease-free germplasm, including embryos and semen. The app provides information on accessing high-quality breeding services such as vaccinations, artificial insemination, veterinary first aid, and medical treatments. Furthermore, e-Gopala offers guidance on animal nutrition and the use of traditional Ayurvedic or ethno-veterinary medicines for livestock care.
The system also features alert notifications for critical events like vaccination schedules, pregnancy checks, and calving, while keeping farmers updated on various government-led programs and initiatives.
