To facilitate convenient access to life-saving blood, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan introduced the eBloodServices application on June 26, 2020. Created in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), this mobile tool streamlines the process of obtaining blood for transfusions. Android users can now install the eBloodServices app directly from the Google Play Store. The platform allows citizens to submit requests for various blood products from the IRCS National Headquarters in Delhi.

Users can request blood delivery right to their location via the eBloodServices mobile platform. This application is particularly helpful during the ongoing pandemic, as movement is restricted and those requiring blood may find it difficult to visit multiple blood banks. Additionally, the app allows users to monitor the status of their requests in real-time.

The government initiated this project following numerous reports regarding the difficulty of obtaining safe blood. Reliable access to blood is critical, especially for patients who depend on regular transfusions due to chronic medical conditions.
