The Karnataka Minority Development Corporation (KMDC) is now accepting online applications for the 2026 Ganga Kalyana Scheme. Under this program, eligible beneficiaries receive support for a drilled borewell or open well equipped with a pump set, or access to lift irrigation infrastructure provided by the KMDC. Applicants must belong to a minority community and qualify as small or marginal farmers to be included in the selection list. You can access the online application form by visiting kmdc.karnataka.gov.in
Farmers across Karnataka can secure essential irrigation support by utilizing perennial water sources or through pipeline-based water lifting systems. Where natural water sources are unavailable, the KMDC offers loans for digging individual borewells at locations verified by professional geologists. To foster agricultural growth, the KMDC covers the total cost of up to Rs. 1.5 lakh for borewell installation.
What is the 2026 Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme?
This initiative provides irrigation support to farmland by drilling borewells or digging open wells, coupled with the installation and electrification of pump sets. In regions with depleted groundwater, such as Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, and Tumkur, the project unit cost is set at Rs. 4.50 lakhs.
For all other districts, the unit cost is Rs. 3.50 lakhs. This cost structure includes Rs. 0.50 lakh for electrification, a Rs. 0.50 lakh loan, and the remainder as a subsidy. The loan carries a 6% annual interest rate, with the principal and interest repayable over 12 half-yearly installments.
Additionally, irrigation is provided via pipelines from nearby rivers or canals, including pump motor installation and power connection. The project cost is Rs. 4.00 lakhs for land holdings up to 8 acres and Rs. 6 lakhs for holdings up to 15 acres. These costs are fully covered as a subsidy.
