The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has officially introduced the Global Pravasi Rishta Portal at pravasirishta.gov.in. Furthermore, the MEA has launched the Global Pravasi Rishta Mobile App to foster stronger connections with the Indian diaspora around the globe. Debuting on December 30, 2020, this digital platform and application aim to link approximately 31.2 million Indians worldwide. The Global Pravasi website and app are designed to facilitate three-way communication between Indian diplomatic missions, the central ministry, and the international Indian community.
Global Pravasi Rishta Portal / App
The Global Pravasi Rishta mobile application is intended for use by Indian citizens and the diaspora, while the web portal serves the needs of Indian diplomatic missions. Currently, there are about 31.2 million overseas Indians, consisting of 17.8 million Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and 13.4 million Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the central government values the Indian diaspora and maintains active engagement with them. The ‘Global Pravasi Rishta Portal’ is a key initiative to ensure the government stays connected with the overseas Indian community consistently, rather than just during formal events.
