The Government of Himachal Pradesh has officially launched the Dev Bhoomi Darshan Yojana 2026, designed to assist senior citizens in visiting the state's revered religious sites. Under this initiative, residents aged 70 to 80 are eligible for a 50% bus fare concession when traveling to holy destinations. For those over the age of 80, the state provides a full 100% fare exemption, ensuring free travel for their pilgrimages under this scheme.
Additionally, the state government has increased the monthly old-age pension for war widows and retired military personnel from Rs. 500 to Rs. 3,000. Furthermore, the "Vigyan Gram Yojana" has been approved for implementation across five districts: Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur. This program aims to improve agricultural output, support non-farm activities, and promote sustainable resource management.
To address water scarcity, the administration has introduced the "Jal se Krishi Ko Bal Yojana," backed by a budget of Rs. 250 crore for rainwater harvesting and conservation. Simultaneously, the "Aaj Purani Raaho Se" initiative has been launched to promote local tourism.
