The Himachal Pradesh administration has introduced the HP Mukhyamantri Alpsankhyak Kalyan Yojana 2026. Under this Minority Welfare Scheme, the state government will offer financial aid for the weddings of Muslim girls, support medical expenses for underprivileged Muslim families, and provide social security pensions to elderly, widowed, and disabled individuals from minority communities. These funds will be distributed through the Waqf Board.

The Himachal Pradesh government is dedicated to the progress and welfare of minority groups within the state. This initiative aims to ensure that minority sections have equitable access to development opportunities. Former CM Jairam Thakur announced this initiative during a public meeting in Chamba following the scheme's initial launch on August 6, 2018.

HP Mukhyamantri Alpsankhyak Kalyan Yojana 2026

The primary benefits and key features of this welfare scheme include:

  • Marriage Grant for Muslim Girls (Rs. 25,000) - The state government provides a grant of Rs. 25,000 to support the weddings of girls from low-income Muslim households.
  • Medical Aid for Needy Muslim Families (Rs. 5,000) - The HP government offers financial support of Rs. 5,000 to assist with medical treatment costs for eligible poor Muslim families.
  • Social Security Pension for Elderly, Widowed, and Disabled Muslims (Rs. 400 monthly) - The state government grants a monthly social security pension of Rs. 400 to senior citizens, widows, and disabled individuals from the Muslim community.

Minority communities contribute significantly to the progress of society. All financial assistance under this program is disbursed to eligible recipients via the Waqf Board.

Reduction in Age Threshold for Social Security Pensions

The state government has previously lowered the age requirement to qualify for social security benefits. The cabinet committee mandated that the eligibility age for the Social Security Pension be set at 70 years, down from the previous 80-year requirement. This policy change has provided support to approximately 1.3 lakh elderly citizens.

Furthermore, the state government is working to provide essential infrastructure for Muslim burial grounds (Kabristan). The HP government will allocate land to the Waqf Board to establish new burial sites. District deputy commissioners have been directed to identify suitable locations for this purpose. Several other welfare-oriented announcements were made during the launch of this initiative in Himachal Pradesh.
