AP Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Scheme 2023
As part of the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Kit initiative for 2026, the state government supplies a comprehensive kit to students from class 1 to 10 in government institutions. This package includes three sets of uniforms, all necessary textbooks and notebooks, one pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, a belt, and a backpack.
On June 12, 2023, CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy distributed these free kits to over 43 lakh students in the Palnadu district. These kits, valued at Rs. 1,043 crore, were handed out in Krosuru village. The program was originally introduced on October 8, 2020, to ensure students have the resources they need to excel in their studies.
Marking the fourth consecutive year of distribution, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government aims to eliminate the financial burden on parents regarding school supplies like uniforms and books. To improve learning outcomes, textbooks are designed with bilingual content, placing English and Telugu translations side-by-side to assist students with better comprehension and concept retention.
According to official reports, the state has invested significantly in this initiative: Rs. 648 crore in 2020-21, Rs. 789 crore in 2021-22, Rs. 887 crore in 2022-23, and Rs. 1,043 crore in 2023-24, bringing the total investment to Rs. 3,367 crore.
