West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme 2026
The West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana aims to empower girls from disadvantaged households, enabling them to pursue higher education despite financial challenges. The initiative has received global acclaim from UNICEF and the UN Department of International Development. It consists of two main parts: an annual scholarship of Rs. 1,000 and a one-time grant of Rs. 25,000.
The annual scholarship supports unmarried girls between 13 and 18 years of age who are enrolled in classes 8 through 12 in government-recognized schools, open schooling, or vocational training programs.
