Since October 1, 2014, the Kerala Coconut Development Board has managed an insurance program called the Kera Suraksha Insurance Scheme, specifically for coconut tree climbers. The primary goal of this initiative is to offer accident insurance protection to all traditional tree climbers and those trained through the Friends of Coconut Tree (FoCT) program, covering both major and minor injuries.

The Kera Suraksha Insurance Scheme is administered by the Coconut Board in partnership with Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, located in Trippunithura, Ernakulam. The state provides insurance coverage of up to Rs. 2,00,000 annually for participants of the FoCT and Neera Technician training courses.

Furthermore, the government has raised the annual coverage limit from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh under this scheme. The Coconut Board subsidizes the majority of the Rs. 66 annual premium. Once the policy term ends, beneficiaries are required to renew their coverage.
