About the Kerala KITE Online Open Learning (KOOL) Initiative

As schools across Kerala embrace high-tech, ICT-enabled classrooms, there is a growing need to upskill both staff and students in modern digital domains. In response, KITE introduced the KOOL platform, which leverages the globally recognized Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) framework.

The KOOL interface facilitates seamless registration, assignment submissions, and direct interaction with course facilitators. This initiative marks a significant milestone in Kerala's journey toward becoming India's premier fully digital educational state.

KOOL: Integrating with the Samagra Resource Portal

The KOOL platform serves as an advanced expansion of the existing Samagra resource portal. It features interactive tools such as virtual learning assistants, guided video tutorials, and activity checklists to enhance the educational experience.

Currently, the platform hosts 200 mentors capable of supporting 4,000 concurrent learners. Completion of at least 45 hours of IT training is a mandatory requirement for teachers to clear their probation. With over 5,000 educators already showing interest, KITE is actively integrating these requirements into the KOOL curriculum.
