The Odisha state government introduced the Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Paridhan Yojana on October 2 of last year. Through this initiative, the government provided two sets of school uniforms to pre-primary children to mark Gandhi Jayanti. This year, approximately 14.83 lakh young students attending Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) have benefited from this distribution program.

Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Paridhan Yojana 2026

The primary goal of the Odisha Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Paridhan Yojana is to supply two sets of complimentary uniforms to children in pre-school. Many students from financially disadvantaged families attend Anganwadi centres where uniforms are mandatory. Since many parents struggle to afford new clothing, this scheme was launched to support low-income families and ensure their children have the necessary attire.

The state government currently provides two sets of free uniforms to every child enrolled in AWCs. Roughly 14.83 lakh pre-schoolers across 61,040 Anganwadi centres received their uniforms during the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. This initiative is designed to motivate more children to enroll in early education.

Receiving new uniforms makes pre-school students eager to attend their Anganwadi Centres. This also encourages these children to participate in other essential Anganwadi services, including the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).

By October 2nd, approximately 14.83 lakh pre-school children had been provided with two sets of uniforms in specific colors. The uniform consists of blue trousers and pink shirts. A total of 1,344 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state were tasked with sewing and delivering these uniforms to the 61,040 Anganwadi centres.
