Eligibility Requirements for the Scheme

To qualify for the Goa Ladli Laxmi Scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be born in the State of Goa;
  • Must have been a resident of Goa for at least fifteen years; and
  • (i) At least one parent was born in Goa and has resided there for fifteen years; or (ii) at least one parent has lived in Goa for twenty-five years; or (iii) the total annual family income is Rs. 3.00 lakhs or less.

For girls born outside of Goa, eligibility is granted if they meet these conditions:

  • Residency in Goa for the past fifteen years;
  • Completion of education within Goa; and
  • (i) At least one parent was born in Goa and has resided there for fifteen years; or (ii) at least one parent has resided in Goa for twenty-five years; (iii) the total annual family income is Rs. 3.00 lakhs or less.

Financial Support Provided

Eligible beneficiaries receive Rs. 1.00 lakh in financial aid, provided they satisfy the following requirements:

  • Upon reaching 18 years of age
  • Or at the time of marriage, applicable to women aged 19 to 40 (as of 31/03/2016), with the age limit extended to 45 years effective from 1/04/2016.

For those turning 18, the funds are deposited into a joint fixed deposit account held by the Director of Women and Child Development and the beneficiary. For those receiving the benefit upon marriage, payment is issued directly to the bank account.

Beneficiaries holding the fixed deposit may access the funds for professional use, business ventures, or further academic pursuits.
