The Himachal government has integrated 8 additional sectors into the CM Self-Employment initiative. On November 10, 2021, the state updated the Mukhyamantri Swavalamban Yojana (MMSY) guidelines to include these new activities. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had previously proposed expanding the scheme's scope during the 2021-22 Budget address.

The new inclusions cover various small-scale services and enterprises, such as silage production units, the Unnat Dairy Vikas Project (minimum 10 cattle), milk cold storage, agro-tourism, farm-stays, agricultural retail outlets, farm equipment manufacturing, vegetable nurseries, tissue culture labs, agricultural warehousing/transport, IoT-based vertical farming, petrol stations, EV charging points, ambulance services, silk reeling, oxygen cryogenic tankers, and various survey/drilling services.

Furthermore, the state has granted a five-year upper age limit relaxation for women applicants. The target beneficiary count for 2021-22 was raised from 2,000 to 3,000, with 1,350 cases already sanctioned. Previously, subsidies were available for 85 different activities.
