Any Delhi resident aged 60 or older is eligible to apply, provided they obtain a certificate from their local MLA verifying their residency in that constituency. Each traveler may bring one companion aged 21 or older, with the government covering all expenses for the attendant as well. While the program was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is now being reinstated. Approved by the Delhi Cabinet on January 9, 2018, the scheme covers all travel, dining, and lodging costs for participants.
The scheme, which provides government-funded religious travel for seniors, was paused during 2020 and 2021 due to the health crisis. Each assembly constituency has an annual quota of 1,100 residents, with a total statewide limit of 77,000 pilgrims per year. Since its inception, 38,000 senior citizens have successfully utilized the program.
Applying for the 2026 Delhi Pilgrimage Scheme
Registration must be completed exclusively through the e-district portal; manual applications are not accepted. Facilitation counters are available at SDM offices, the Tirth Vikas Samiti office, and local MLA offices to assist applicants. Eligible senior citizens can now submit their online applications for the upcoming pilgrimage cycles.
