Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has introduced the Nirman Kusum Yojana 2026, specifically designed for the children of construction laborers residing in Odisha. Through this initiative, the state government provides monetary aid to help these students pursue technical education. Under the scheme’s guidelines, the government has already successfully transferred a total of Rs. 1.09 crore directly into the bank accounts of 1,878 eligible beneficiaries for the previous academic year.
The Odisha government officially inaugurated the Nirman Kusuma scheme on October 6, 2018, during a state-level event held at Jaydev Bhawan. The program was organized by the Odisha Labour & Employees State Insurance Department in collaboration with the Skill Development & Technical Education Department.
Children of construction workers are eligible to receive financial support for their studies in state-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnics, and diploma courses. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced a 20% increase in financial assistance for girls' education at every academic level.
Odisha Nirman Kusum Yojana 2026
The Odisha government initiated the Nirman Kusum Yojana to offer financial aid to students attending Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and state-run diploma technical institutions. During the program's debut, the Chief Minister distributed financial assistance to over 500 children of construction workers registered with the Odisha Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

Under the Nirman Kusum Yojana, children of construction workers enrolled in ITI programs now receive Rs. 23,600, while those pursuing diploma courses at state-run technical institutions are granted Rs. 26,300. The state government has already successfully disbursed Rs. 1.09 crore directly into the bank accounts of 1,878 beneficiaries for the previous fiscal year.
Official Launch of Nirman Kusum Yojana Odisha
CM @Naveen_Odisha introduced the Nirman Kusuma Yojana to support construction workers by fully subsidizing their children's education in government ITIs, polytechnics, and diploma colleges. He further committed to a 20% increase in educational funding for girls at every academic stage.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also increased the ex-gratia compensation for registered construction workers. In the event of a natural death, the assistance has been raised from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh, and for unnatural death, it has been increased from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh. Additionally, financial support for the education and healthcare of daughters of registered workers has been boosted by 20%.
