The Odisha Government has introduced the Nirmal Scheme 2026, a new initiative focused on healthcare. The state government has allocated Rs. 370 crore to ensure the quality of services such as sanitation, laundry, security, and gardening, as well as lift operations in public health facilities. The primary goal of the Odisha Nirmal Scheme is to offer improved amenities for patients and their companions in government-run healthcare centers. This article will provide comprehensive details about the Odisha Nirmal Yojana.

What is the Odisha Nirmal Scheme 2026?

The Odisha Nirmal Scheme is designed to offer complimentary ancillary services to individuals at all state-run government hospitals and district headquarters hospitals. Its primary objective is to ensure essential services like sanitation and security, making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for everyone. The Nirmal Scheme aims to bolster the delivery of effective healthcare services through the public health system.

This Nirmal Scheme has been launched by the state government to elevate the standards of supplementary services within the healthcare sector. The government will place a significant focus on fostering healthy and hygienic hospital environments. Additionally, the government will provide fundamental services such as sanitation, laundry, security, and lift operations at various public healthcare facilities. The government's commitment is to achieve Universal Health Coverage and ensure Health For All.

Given that approximately 91% of Odisha's citizens rely on the public sector for their healthcare needs, the Nirmal Scheme holds considerable importance.

Components of the Odisha Nirmal Scheme

The Nirmal Scheme in Odisha comprises three main components: Clinic Establishments, Up-gradation, and Procurement of Advanced Equipment. The first two components were initiated in the initial phase, while the third component was introduced in the second phase.

Phase 1

In the initial phase, the government plans to establish new clinics at the capital hospital and enhance existing clinics as follows:

1st Component - Establishment of Clinics - The Health and Family Welfare Department will set up clinics in government hospitals to facilitate prompt treatment. These newly established clinics may cater to areas such as cancer detection, sterility, family welfare, child rehabilitation, child guidance, child welfare, and immunization.

2nd Component - Service Upgradation - For hospitals that already offer these facilities, the state government will strengthen and upgrade these services to guarantee proper treatment for citizens.

Phase 2

3rd Component - Equipment Procurement - The government will soon advance towards acquiring advanced medical equipment. This initiative will ensure world-class infrastructure and facilities at district headquarters hospitals.
