Who Can Apply for the Rs. 50,000 Assam Journalist Grant

To qualify for the Media Personality Grant, candidates must meet these specific requirements:

  • Applicants must be permanent residents of Assam.
  • Applicants must be accredited or recognized journalists within the state.
  • The scheme is open to all mainstream media professionals holding valid DIPR, Assam accreditation cards, including freelance reporters from print, electronic, and news media agencies.
  • The minimum age for applicants is 40 years; there is no maximum age limit.
  • Applicants must possess at least 15 years of active professional experience in journalism.
  • Print and electronic reporters must provide three examples of research-based reports, features, or documentaries. These must include at least three "success stories" related to government initiatives published or broadcast in the last 12 months.
  • Photojournalists and video journalists must submit at least three high-quality still images or video presentations covering events or topics from the past year that promote development, unity, or integrity.
  • Current or former employees of government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, boards, or corporations are ineligible.
  • Any affiliation with a political party will lead to immediate disqualification.
  • Applicants must have a clean legal record and must not have been reprimanded by the Press Council of India for ethical violations or misconduct.
  • The applicant's total annual income must be below Rs. 5.00 Lakh, verified by an original Income Certificate issued by a Circle Officer.
  • This is a one-time grant; recipients cannot apply for this assistance again.
  • Journalists currently receiving a pension are not eligible.
  • Any form of canvassing or lobbying for the grant will result in disqualification and permanent debarment from future considerations.

Note - Furthermore, applicants must not have been convicted of any criminal activity or penalized by a court of law, nor censured by the Press Council of India for professional misconduct or ethical breaches.
