Central government initiated the PM Van Dhan Yojana and the new trifed.tribal.gov.in portal. Under the Pradhan Mantri Mera Van Mera Dhan Mera Udyam Scheme, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs will establish 50,000 Self Help Groups nationwide. The primary objective is to leverage forest wealth (non-timber produce) valued at up to Rs. 2 lakh crore for the welfare of tribal communities through these self-help groups (SHGs).

Initially, the government launched this scheme in 115 aspirational districts and it is now being implemented across all tribal areas. This initiative ensures that tribal populations receive the benefits of value addition and fair pricing. The government will implement it through a three-stage value addition process, leading to increased income for tribal communities. The PM Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) is a movement active in 27 states.

The PM Van Dhan Scheme, along with the Jan Dhan Scheme and Gobar Dhan Scheme, are key initiatives of the Modi government. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated this scheme on Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti, April 14, 2018, in Chhattisgarh.

Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana 2026 to Setup Van Dhan Vikas Kendras

The PM Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) is designed to utilize the traditional knowledge and skills of tribal communities, enhancing them with branding, packaging, and marketing expertise to maximize their income through a market-driven enterprise model by establishing Van Dhan Kendras (VDVKs). The 'Van Dhan Karyakram' under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs will establish 50,000 VDVKs in tribal regions across the nation. This initiative aims to generate livelihoods and empower tribal individuals. The Van Dhan scheme mobilizes Self Help Groups to support tribal members, serving as a primary source of income for families residing in and around forest areas.
