The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has authorized the expansion of the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY) for 2026. The Central government will now cover the full employer contribution for the first three years following a new employee's registration date. This initiative aims to provide social security to informal sector workers while fostering job growth. Interested applicants can review the official guidelines, instructional manuals, and submit their PMRPY applications via pmrpy.gov.in.

Eligibility is open to all employees who joined on or after April 1, 2016, and hold a valid Universal Account Number (UAN). The employee's monthly salary must remain below Rs. 15,000. The PMRPY program provides a direct advantage by allowing these workers to access organized sector social security benefits.

To date, the PMRPY has facilitated formal employment for approximately 3.1 million beneficiaries, representing an investment exceeding Rs. 500 crore. For the textile and apparel industries, the government now covers the full 12% contribution, a policy expected to extend to all sectors in the coming years. This strategic effort is projected to generate an additional 10 million jobs within the unorganized sector.
