PM Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana 2026

The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM) pension initiative for unorganized sector workers was officially inaugurated on 15 February 2019. To receive this pension, workers must commit to a monthly contribution. Individuals earning less than Rs. 15,000 monthly can pay a set amount (as defined in the contribution schedule) until they turn 60, with the central government matching that contribution amount.

The federal government has earmarked Rs. 500 crore for this social welfare program and is currently accepting digital applications. This major pension project aims to support approximately 420 million workers, including waste collectors, rickshaw operators, and various other informal laborers.

To support India’s vast labor force, the central government introduced the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana 2026. Mirroring social security systems available to organized sector staff, this scheme ensures retirement pension coverage for workers in the unorganized sector.
