Telangana Buffalo Subsidy for Dairy Farmers
The Telangana government has announced financial aid for farmers purchasing buffaloes. The administration intends to launch a comprehensive dairy development strategy to spark a "Ksheera Viplavam" (milk revolution) throughout the state.
According to official reports, general category farmers will receive a 50% subsidy, while farmers from SC/ST communities will be eligible for a 75% subsidy. This program will be facilitated through various local dairy development societies.
Dairy Development Organizations
The following dairy organizations are prioritized for this scheme:
- Vijaya Dairy Development Society
- Mulkanur Dairy Development Society
- Nalgonda and Rangareddy District Dairy Societies
- Karimnagar Dairy Societies
The government has also addressed the request for a Rs. 4 per liter incentive for dairy farmers, expanding it beyond the Vijaya dairy society.
Current internal milk production is insufficient to meet the state's 1-crore liter demand, with local societies producing only 7 lakh liters. Significant volumes are currently imported from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat.
To reduce reliance on external suppliers, the state is developing a comprehensive policy to boost local milk production capacity.
