The Tripura administration introduced the Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar scheme on June 25, 2020, to support expectant mothers. Through this initiative, the state government provides complimentary nutritional support packages to both pregnant women and those currently nursing. This CM-led program is a strategic move to combat maternal mortality and malnutrition across the region. The state government has allocated a budget of approximately Rs. 8 crore annually to sustain this mission.

The Tripura Chief Minister’s Maternal Nutrition Gift Yojana was unveiled by Santana Chakma, the State Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education. The program is set to assist roughly 40,000 expectant and nursing mothers, with each nutrition package valued at about Rs. 500.

This new state-level initiative complements the existing Pradhan Mantri Matru Bandana Yojana, which previously provided a cash incentive of Rs. 5,000 to 58,996 beneficiaries following the birth of their first child.

Tripura Chief Minister's Maternal Nutrition Gift Scheme 2026

To bolster efforts against malnutrition among mothers and infants, the Tripura government launched the Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme 2026. Under this program, the state provides free nutritional kits to pregnant women and nursing mothers. The primary objective is to decrease both the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).

Highlights of the Maternal Nutrition Scheme

The core features and primary benefits of the Tripura Mukhyamantri Matru Pushti Uphaar Scheme 2026 include the following:

  • Complimentary Nutrition Kits - Each package is valued at Rs. 500 and contains essential groceries and food supplements. Contents include items such as soybeans, peanuts, assorted pulses, jaggery, and ghee. These kits are provided to pregnant and nursing women at no cost.
  • Health Screening - Expectant mothers are required to attend regular health check-ups at their local Primary Health Centre (PHC). Each visit includes a distribution of the nutrition kit. Mothers receive these kits four times throughout their pregnancy following each medical assessment.
  • Target Beneficiaries - The scheme is designed to support approximately 40,000 women across the state of Tripura.

In the past, the state government successfully distributed Rs. 5,000 to 58,996 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Bandana Yojana, providing financial aid to mothers following the birth of their first child.

Updated Guidelines for Pediatric Care

According to updated regulations, children identified with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) previously received 4 eggs weekly. The revised policy now mandates 6 eggs per week, along with 20 grams of jaggery and 200 ml of milk provided six days a week.
