The Uttar Pradesh administration has introduced the UP Bal Shramik Vidya Yojana 2026, aimed at supporting the education of orphans and children from laboring families. This initiative for the children of laborers is designed to promote a healthy and prosperous future for these youth. Eligible families will be able to submit their details via the UP Bal Shramik Vidya Yojana 2026 application form on the forthcoming official portal. Selected boys will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,000, while girls will receive Rs. 1,200. Additionally, students enrolled in grades 8, 9, and 10 will be granted a yearly bonus of Rs. 6,000.
Although the scheme was initially planned for a late March rollout, it faced delays due to the lockdown. A symbolic launch occurred on June 12, 2020, coinciding with the World Day Against Child Labour, where funds were distributed to over 2,000 children. Previously, the state government had piloted a conditional cash transfer initiative across 10 districts.
That pilot program, which provided Rs. 92,000 annually per student, was deemed a success. The expanded UP Labourers Children Education Scheme aims to reach more students, effectively diverting them from child labor and encouraging academic enrollment.

Identification of Children of Labourers
While the online application window is pending, the labor department is currently tasked with identifying eligible children. The UP Labour Department holds the responsibility for overseeing the program and its beneficiaries. Given that Uttar Pradesh has reported significant instances of child labor, this conditional scheme is a major step toward reform. The Yogi Adityanath government mandates that financial assistance is strictly tied to meeting educational and attendance requirements.
The Chief Minister has emphasized that integrating central and state development schemes while ensuring employment for laborers is essential for the "reconstruction" of Uttar Pradesh.
