UP Chief Minister Farmer and Public Welfare Insurance Scheme in UP Budget 2021-22
During the presentation of the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2021-22, Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna stated, "The UP government is committed to the upliftment of farmers and doubling their income. To achieve this goal by 2022, the Self-Reliant Farmer Integrated Development Scheme will be implemented starting from the 2021-2022 fiscal year to bridge infrastructure gaps and improve the utilization of various welfare programs."
Families of farmers who die in accidents receive financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh under the Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme. The scope of this scheme has been expanded to include earning family members of account holders and co-account holders, as well as landless individuals working on leased or sharecropped land. Farmers in the state will also benefit from the Chief Minister's Public Health Scheme."
Coverage of UP Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme
The UP Chief Minister Farmer and Public Welfare Insurance Scheme covers incidents such as road, air, or rail accidents, collisions, falls, gas leaks, mongoose or animal bites/attacks, cylinder bursts, dog bites, burns, drowning, flood-related incidents, accidental limb amputation, earthquakes, and lightning strikes. Once implemented, this scheme aims to support 12 crore people, primarily in rural regions.
A compensation of Rs. 5 lakh is provided in the event of the death of a farmer's family member. If a farmer's son, daughter, daughter-in-law, or spouse dies due to an accident, the same compensation applies, ensuring all family members are protected.
