In this initial round, a sum of Rs. 1500 crore was disbursed, with further payments planned for the remaining eligible workers once procedural requirements are met, according to an official state government statement. Interested individuals can complete their online applications via the upbocw.in website or the national e-Shram portal at eshram.gov.in.
Previously, on 9 June 2021, the government digitally transferred Rs. 230 crore as sustenance support to 23 lakh (2.3 million) laborers to provide relief during the Covid-19 crisis. This initiative is managed by the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The Chief Minister also introduced a dedicated portal to facilitate the registration of workers from the unorganized sector.
UP Labor Maintenance Allowance Scheme 2026 Recent Updates
While addressing a session held to distribute maintenance funds via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to 1.50 crore construction and migrant workers at Lok Bhawan, Yogi Adityanath emphasized the BJP government's commitment to the welfare of Uttar Pradesh's migrant workforce. The CM highlighted that the state provided essential financial support to both organized and unorganized sector workers throughout the pandemic, setting a new benchmark for public welfare programs.
The CM stated, "We have successfully integrated 3.81 crore migrant laborers into this initiative. Verification for 1.50 crore workers is complete, and funds are being deposited in the first phase. The remaining workers will receive their maintenance allowance over the next four months. Furthermore, the state has decided to extend coverage to sanitation workers under the 'Life and Livelihood' policy in response to the pandemic."
