Uttar Pradesh government has introduced the UP BC Sakhi Yojana, also known as the Banking Correspondent Sakhi Scheme 2026, to create employment opportunities for women. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched this special initiative on 22 May 2020. Under this program, the state government recruits women as BC Sakhis to provide financial services in rural regions. This scheme benefits residents by eliminating the need for bank visits, as the "Sakhi" facilitates doorstep money transactions. What is UP BC Sakhi Yojana 2026
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath stated that under the UP BC Sakhi Yojana, women residing in rural areas will facilitate digital banking and financial transactions. This initiative provides jobs for women while benefiting rural residents. The Banking Correspondent Sakhi Scheme ensures a steady income for rural women, offering Rs. 4,000 monthly for the first six months, along with transaction-based commissions to supplement their earnings.
This program empowers rural women to earn a livelihood while simplifying banking for local account holders. A key objective of this scheme is to reduce the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) by minimizing bank queues and allowing residents to access financial services safely from their doorsteps through digital platforms.
UP Banking Sakhis Appointment in 640 Gram Panchayats
To extend banking reach, the UP government launched the BC Sakhi Yojana, focusing on doorstep financial services. In the initial phase, the government will deploy Banking Sakhis across 640 gram panchayats. Each selected woman will receive specialized training to act as a representative responsible for providing essential banking services to the villagers.
