The Andhra Pradesh administration has launched the AP YSR Sampoorna Poshan Plus Program 2026. Under this initiative, the state government provides healthy meals to tribal expectant mothers, new moms, and vulnerable children. This Y.S.R Sampoorna Poshan Plus initiative is currently operational across 77 tribal mandals within the state. A separate YSR Sampurna Poshana initiative is also active in the remaining general regions. The state government has earmarked approximately Rs. 1,863 crore for both of these welfare efforts.

These two dietary initiatives are managed through 55,607 Anganwadi centers, supporting around 30 lakh women. There are roughly 47,287 Anganwadi centers in non-tribal areas, which will assist about 27 lakh women and children. A total of Rs. 1,555 crore is dedicated specifically to Anganwadi centers in plain regions. The remaining funds are reserved for the 3 lakh women and infants residing in tribal territories.

YSR Sampoorna Poshan Plus Program 2026 Overview

This initiative ensures that nutritious food is distributed to children and expectant mothers, regardless of their current health status. These diet programs aim to combat child underweight issues. Key highlights of the AP YSR Sampoorna Poshan Plus Program 2026 include:

  • Approximately 3 lakh tribal women and children are served by 8,320 Anganwadi centers across 77 tribal mandals.
  • Expectant mothers and infants aged 6 months to 3 years receive a balanced diet.
  • Children between 3 and 6 years of age are provided with eggs and milk.
  • The state government invests Rs. 1,100 monthly per pregnant woman for dietary support and Rs. 553 monthly for children in tribal regions.
  • A total budget of Rs. 308 crore has been sanctioned for the execution of the AP YSR Sampoorna Poshan Plus Program 2026.

As noted, the YSR Sampoorna Poshana Program operates in plain areas, benefiting 27 lakh women and children through 47,287 Anganwadi centers with a budget of Rs. 1,555 crore. In this program, the government allocates Rs. 850 monthly for the diet of pregnant women and new mothers in these areas, along with Rs. 350 for infants and Rs. 412 for children. While previous programs targeted only those with anemia, these updated efforts include all underprivileged individuals.

Application Process for AP YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus

The AP YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus is a state-run initiative. Anganwadi staff will handle data collection by registering eligible women and children. Operations in ITDAs will be supervised by the respective ITDA Project Officer in collaboration with the District Women and Children Development Authority (DW&CDA) Project Director. Below is the registration procedure for the AP Sampurna Poshana Plus Program:

  • Anganwadi workers will conduct comprehensive surveys within their jurisdiction to register all eligible beneficiaries. Special emphasis will be placed on reaching underprivileged populations in remote, hilly, and inaccessible regions.
  • All children (6 months to 6 years), expectant mothers, and nursing mothers must be enrolled in the AP Sampoorna Poshan Plus Program. Profiles will be updated in the Common Application Software (CAS) to track service delivery.
  • Child birth dates, gender, and monthly health metrics (height and weight) will be recorded accurately in the CAS database.
  • Weighing scales and height measuring tools will be regularly calibrated and maintained at all Anganwadi centers.
  • Monthly growth assessments (height and weight) will be performed for every child at their local Anganwadi center.
  • Anganwadi workers, ASHA staff, and ANMs will collaborate to facilitate medical checkups for SUW/SAM/MAM children by Medical Officers at PHCs. This includes identifying malnutrition causes, addressing medical complications, and providing necessary supplements like antibiotics, iron, folic acid, calcium, vitamins, zinc, and deworming medication. Referrals to Nutritional Rehabilitation Centers or specialists will be provided when necessary.
  • Children discharged from NRCs will receive home-based follow-up, and families will be educated on hygiene, sanitation, safe drinking water, and proper nutrition. Children classified as SUW, SAM, or MAM will have their weight tracked weekly.
  • Weight assessments for pregnant women will be conducted monthly at the
