Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee originally announced the Yuvashree Arpan program for unemployed youth on March 6, 2019. This self-employment initiative is set to benefit approximately 50,000 young people across West Bengal, with the primary goal of fostering an entrepreneurial spirit.
The WB Yuvashree Arpan Scheme is designed to generate employment, thereby contributing to the state's economic advancement. The rollout of the Yuvasree program officially began on April 1, 2019.

West Bengal currently leads in job creation under the MGNREGA program and remains a top performer in providing skill-based training through the Utkarsh Bangla initiative.
