The Gujarat Chief Minister has officially introduced the 2026 Citizen Smart Card initiative in Mandvi. This digital card project for residents was inaugurated by the CM via a virtual link from Gandhinagar, alongside the opening of a new municipal administrative office and community hall. This guide covers everything you need to know about the online application process for the Gujarat Citizen Smart Card.
Gujarat Citizen Smart Card Program 2026
The state government of Gujarat has rolled out the 2026 Citizen Smart Card project. By leveraging modern digital tools, the administration aims to foster a transparent and corruption-free governance model.
How to Apply Online for the Citizen Smart Card
Gujarat is currently delivering 51 various services through digital portals across 8,000 villages, with 35 services already fully operational. The Mandvi Municipality’s smart card pilot is expected to serve as a model for other local government bodies. Specific instructions for the online application process have not yet been released.
While the program is currently limited to one municipality, it is slated for expansion across the state. Once the official rollout occurs, the government will provide access to application forms. These will likely be available via the official https://www.digitalgujarat.gov.in/ portal or a dedicated site. We will provide updates here as soon as the online registration begins.
Family Database for Smart Card Enrollment
To begin, a database containing 700 Mandvi households has been compiled. This household information includes the following essential details:
- AADHAR identification
- Ration card information
- Voter ID details
- Updated identification photographs
All personal data is gathered strictly with the explicit consent of the families involved.
Civic Services Accessible via Smart Cards
Collected family data will be securely stored within the central government’s DigiLocker system. Once registered, residents can simply use their smart card to access various municipal services, such as obtaining income or BPL certificates. Approximately 7,000 households are expected to benefit from this system.
Mokla Mane Samvad Initiative
The Chief Minister of Gujarat also engages in regular discussions with cattle farmers through the Mokla Mane Samvad program. This initiative aims to boost milk production and preserve native breeds like Gir and Kankrej. The state government now classifies animal husbandry as a key agricultural sector and has implemented strict anti-slaughter laws. Gujarat’s self-sufficiency in milk production is largely due to the dedication of local dairy farmers, who played a vital role in sustaining the rural economy during the pandemic.
