The Maharashtra administration has introduced the new Kanya Van Samruddhi Yojana 2026. Under this initiative, the government will provide plant saplings to every farmer family that welcomes a girl child. From now on, any farming family experiencing the birth of a daughter between April 1st and March 31st of any given year can apply to receive plant saplings. This program is projected to assist approximately 2 lakh farming families annually.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had previously given his approval for the Maharashtra Kanya Van Samruddhi Yojana during a cabinet meeting on June 27, 2018. This Kanya Van Samriddhi Scheme also aims to ensure that the revenue generated from the planted trees can be used to secure the future of the girls. The scheme is intended to promote women's empowerment and encourage tree planting. However, the scheme is applicable for a maximum of two girl children per family.
