Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially introduced the Gujarat Kisan Suryoday Yojana 2026 to support the agricultural community. Through this initiative, the state government plans to invest Rs. 3,500 crore over the next three years to supply daytime solar electricity to farmers for irrigation purposes. Building on the success of previous water management projects like Sujalam Sufalam and SAUNI, the Kisan Suryoday scheme marks a significant advancement for Gujarat's farming sector.

Latest Status of Kisan Suryoday Yojana

The Kisan Suryoday Yojana has yet to reach 9 districts across Gujarat. According to data shared during the recent Monsoon Session, this includes seven Saurashtra districts—Bhavnagar, Botad, Rajkot, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, and Porbandar—along with Kutch and Dang.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced this initiative in 2020 to provide daytime power for agricultural operations. The Gujarat administration aims to enroll all state villages by the conclusion of 2024. The first phase successfully benefited 1 lakh farmers, while the second phase targets an additional 1.9 lakh participants.

To support this, the government is investing Rs. 35,000 crore over three years to establish modern transmission lines and substations. A primary objective is to safeguard farmers from dangerous encounters with snakes and wild animals during nighttime irrigation.
