Bihar government has introduced the Mukhyamantri Harit Krishi Sanyantra Yojana 2026 for the state's agricultural community. Through this initiative, the government is providing farming equipment to cultivators at affordable rental rates. Starting from the 2020 fiscal year, the authorities have been establishing Agriculture Machinery Banks (Krishi Sanyantra Bank) within every Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Society (PACS), with a budget of approximately Rs. 20 Lakh per unit. The state administration had previously allocated Rs. 1692 crore to support this project.
Bihar Chief Minister Green Agriculture Machinery Scheme 2026
Under this initiative, PACS receive 50% of the funding as a loan and 50% as a subsidy. Farmers who lack their own heavy equipment no longer need to pay high private rental costs; instead, they can access machinery from these banks at nominal rates. This policy was formalized during the Bihar Cabinet meeting on August 24, 2018, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Goals of the CM Green Agriculture Machinery Scheme
The primary aim of this program is to provide essential farming tools and machinery to local cultivators through a low-cost rental system.
Advantages for Residents
This initiative is expected to boost agricultural output and rural prosperity. By making machinery accessible, farmers can increase their crop yield while reducing manual labor requirements.
